Cat Simmons will take over the role of ‘Nancy’ from Samantha Barks in Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Lionel Bart’s smash hit musical Oliver! at Birmingham Hippodrome on Tuesday 3 April, the same day that Brian Conley takes over the role of ‘Fagin’ from Neil Morrissey.
Cat and Brian will play the roles until the end of the Birmingham run on 21 April. Neil and Samantha will play the roles from 13 March – 1 April.
Samantha Barks leaves Oliver! to start filming on the Les Misérables film where she will be playing the role of ‘Eponine’
Cat’s theatre credits include the leading role of ‘Mary Magdalene’ in the recent tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. Her West End credits include Whistle Down the Wind and Fame. She also appeared in the Young Vic’s sell out production of Simply Heavenly and the Old Vic’s production of Aladdin opposite Ian McKellen. She is probably best known for her regular role as ‘DC Kezia Walker’ in the long running ITV drama The Bill.
